Before we start I would like to say that I guessed Fast and Furious 8 would have a stupid name. Check it here.
I am ranking these on how I feel about the film today. This is because (as you know), a lot of this film series tie into other films, number 3 tying into after number 6. Up until the other week, hands down I thought number 4 was the worst but I watched a deleted scene where Giselle saves Letty, so one question out of 70 I had with that film was answered.
7. FAST AND FURIOUS
No matter what deleted scene I saw, to me this is the worst movie of the franchise. It took me 3 days to watch it. I loved Michelle Rodriguezs’ character yet she died so easily, I didn’t care about the baddie, had no clue who half of the characters was, I was confused why there was no-one from Tokyo Drift was in it, Han was alive? Too many questions, and I was just confused, of course . Recently I have come to appreciate
it more and understand way it, obviously the way it all ties into each other, but if I was given an option to watch all these films again, this would be last. I just didn’t like it plain and simple, but now most of the issues I had with it have been resolved but still not my cup of tea
RATING: 4/10 – Not a great film, borderline rubbish, but I did like Dom getting arrested, and it did set up the best film of the franchise so maybe I am being to harsh.
=5. FAST AND FURIOUS TOKYO DRIFT
I just remember thinking where was Brian O’Connor, and not particularly liking it because I thought it had no impact on the franchise. But now, I know Luke Shaw killed Han, I actually love the film. But I can’t really remember it and therefore it comes in at 6th place, sorry. I liked the racing element to the film something I think the latter films have forgotten about, but instead they just replace it with cars blowing up
RATING: 6/10 – An OK film, I didn’t mind it but I honestly can’t remember it apart from the Dom’s cameo at the end. Here it is (just watching that again (to me), shows how much of a genius Justin Lin is, he was able to tie everything into each other. Brilliant)
=5. THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS
I’m sorry but because of the process of elimination, this is where this film goes. I liked the film and I loved the story but it isn’t really referenced again, I mean half of Dom’s family, real family died, and he didn’t talk about it again. But this film set it up great, and I would watch it again if it was on. And on the plus side, this was the only time Dom’s sister was actually given a story and had some word, most of the latter films she doesn’t really do much. I just remember the undercover police officer story line with illegal street racing and it just reminds me of a simpler story, and that is why, even to this day I actually liked the film. But as I said at the beginning, unfortunately this film has to come in at 5th place because of the process of elimination
RATING: 6/10
4. 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS
I loved 2 Fast 2 Furious, a great film and introduced the greatest character and the greatest partnership into the Fast franchise, Tyrese and Tej. My only problem with this film is I would like to see Eva’s character again, she is never referenced again and it almost as if the film was a bonus DVD extra. For example if you brought a film a little side video would come with it and this is how this film felt. That being said, I enjoyed the film and I own it
RATING: 7/10
3. FURIOUS 7
Now, I might be too harsh on this film and that is why it is above 2 Fast 2 Furious because I know I am being harsh on it, but I do not think that it was a great film. I mean, once again, I probably had massive expectations for this film and I wanted to see it so badly that it sort of let me down. Jason Statham didn’t really do much. They were chasing some guy to find a device to chase Jason Statham who was chasing him. And I just couldn’t get over that. The Rock didn’t do much, and the whole idea of Dom and Letty being married was just stupid. But the reason it is at number 3 is because I know I am being harsh on it, maybe if I didn’t have crazy expectations it would’ve been higher up on the list. But to me it was underwhelming. Moreover, the whole idea of “All roads lead to this”, wasn’t really true because I don’t feel like Jason Statham did much.
RATING: 7.5/10 – Of course I have put into consideration the emotional factor in this film of Paul Walkers tragic passing and that is why I have given it a pretty decent rating. Actually above decent.
2. FAST AND FURIOUS 6
I love this film, and my rating shows that. I don’t give 8’s out easily, but this is in second place because it isn’t as good as Fast Five. And I also have to pay homage to Fast Five, without it Fast and Furious 6 would not have been half as good. But boy is it a good film. The action was fantastic, the follow up to Fast Five meant that we can see what they did with all that money. Quite frankly, this is a great sequel to Fast 5 and it is just unfortunate that Fast Five is on this list because it takes all its thunder, but that being said, as I mentioned earlier, this film would not have been great if it had not been for Fast 5 setting it all up.
RATING: 8/10 – (An 8, is an amazing rating, because I don’t rate anything a 10, and a 9 is left for the best films of all time, so an 8 is impressive)
1. FAST FIVE
As I said a 9 is left for the best films. And this is one of the best films – I said it and I don’t care. It is one of my favourite films, and is what really turned this franchise into a good franchise, something that was profitable, without it, I think this franchise would’ve died, to have a heist in Rio, with the Rock coming in. This was just exceptional, simple as. And I could speak for hours but my overall opinion will be the same, I struggle to find one fault with this film, I have watched it 70 times, more times than I watched the Avengers
RATING: 9/10 – I know I am probably going to regret that later, as I don’t like to give out 9’s unless they are the greatest films of all time and I like to leave 9’s for films like the GodFather, but I love this film too much, so imagine the rating is 8.5, if you are offended with my 9/10
So, there is my ranking of the Fast franchise, do I think that number 8 will be good. I am not going to lie, NO. But I am still going to watch it and no matter what you say so are you. Of course I could be wrong and I could love it but when I say it doesn’t look good I am ranking it against number 5 and 6. That being said, of course the best films are the ones you expect nothing from, so maybe it will blow my mind.
