LISTED: GAME OF THRONES – EVERY CHARACTER RANKED

Upon writing this, the daunting task has just hit me, there are a so many characters to rank – and then there is the case of whether we are considering those dead or alive. So, some rules are needed.

RULES:

• DOES NOT INCLUDE SEASON 7.
• It will be simply to long to rank every main character- it will be hard to even differentiate between normal characters and the main cast. So this list is for characters who I think are vital and important to the story.
• It is difficult to rank characters, because bias kicks in. So, I am ranking them, on their importance, how amazing they are and if they have a death – their death.
• It gets really tricky when it comes to villains. I don’t like any villain but they are important to the show so then being really high up does not make me a psychopath

56] RICKON STARK (ART PARKINSON)

It was between Rickon or Bran but I went for Rickon. I am just going to give a heads up, a lot of this is adjusted for their input in the Game of Thrones (by that I mean – the fight for the throne). Rickon disappeared for how many seasons! When he appeared, he and that woman (the one Theon was with) were captured by Ramsay. And Rickon’s death was probably one of the dumbest deaths I have ever seen. Thinking he can out run an arrow , running in a straight line so Ramsay can perfectly line up the shot. Idiot.

55] – BRAN STARK

I am very harsh on Bran but apart from last season what has he actually done. I understand that he is important with the White Walkers, and don’t get me wrong the White Walkers are amazing. But I really don’t care about Bran. It isn’t only me who doesn’t care about his story, even the Game of Thrones creators didn’t care about him, he didn’t appear for a whole season. You would be lying if you said you haven’t sighed at least once when he appears on screen. And technically, the beef between the Starks and the Lannisters is all his fault. Idiot

54] ELLARIA SAND (INDIRA VARMA) & THE SAND SNAKES (ROSABELL LAURENTI SELLERS, KEISHA CASTLE-HUGHES & JESSICA HENWICK).

Who cares about Dorne? Point made. Alot of people are harsh on Dorne, and whilst I completely agree Just in case there was any doubt, who of the above is exactly Ellaria Sand?

53] JAQEN H’GHAR (TOM WLASCHIHA)

Started of so cool, I liked him a lot but then when Arya went to him, I started to care less about him. That season was just so meh, and went on for way too long (it lasted two seasons), the Waif was annoying as hell. I didn’t really care about him or his story line after a while and I think it went on for too long. His :

“A girl has no name”

Quote just got annoying real quick, he held Arya back.

52] GENDRY (JOE DEMPSIE)

I actually liked him but he angers me. If I had a claim betcha I would at least show up to be in Game of Thrones, TO PLAY THE GAME Of THRONES. We haven’t seen him in five seasons, he is such an important character but he doesn’t even do anything – even when he was on our screens. So, if he getsBut, instead where is he? Probably still rowing…

51] BALON GREYJOY (PATRICK MALAHIDE)

Who? It took me a while but I eventually remembered him – he was Reek’s dad and he forced Theon to turn his back on the Starks and take over Winterfell, leaving Bran and Rickon on the run – which (come to think about it), means that it is his fault I hate Rickon and Bran’s story so much.

50] RENLY BARATHEON (GETHIN ANTHONY)

His death was really, really, REALLY weird but when it comes down to it he was really bad in the Game of Thrones, he didn’t do much and only really had a really forgettable love story with ….(*click*)….(*click*)…. that guy who plays Iron Fist. In the actual Game for the Throne, he was a weasel, I mean, c’mon – fix up or die. He never really had a chance at winning.

NIGHT KING

49] OBERYN MARTELL (PEDRO PASCAL)

I didn’t particularly like him and I know a lot of people the LOVED him, but who cares cos he was only in for like 5 episodes then his head got smashed.

48] WALDER FREY

Just three words: FUCK THIS GUY

47] ROOSE BOLTON (MICHEAL MCELHATTON)

Some more: FUCK THAT GUY

46] SHAE (SIBEL KEKILLI)

And : FUCK THIS WOMAN

45] HIGH SPARROW (JONATHAN PRYCE)

I hate this guy. Once again, alot of people like him – but his story just got to muddled for me. And I just thought he was filler. I liked the actor but I am happy he is dead.

44] GREY WORM (JACOB ANDERSON)

I like him but what does he actually do, his relationship with Missandei is nice but he is no where near unique.

43] VISERYS TARGARYEN (HARRY LLOYD)

The only reason he was this high is because he had a good death , he was intresting but that was seven Seasons ago

42] MAESTER AEMON (PETER VAUGHAN)

I can’t even remember if he is dead or alive. But, I did like him when the Wall arc got boring.

41] QYBURN (ANTON LESSER)

Actually like him but he is in alliance withe Cercei. He is intresting but he is just on the wrong side

40] MEERA REED (ELLIE KENDRICK)

Unfortunately she was apart of that stoyline which I don’t care for. BUT I loved HODOR so she is higher up. That scene “Hold The Door”, still beings back the tears.

39] TALISA STARK (OONA CHAPLIN)

A lovely woman who died in one of the best episodes. But, she is the reason I hate Walder Frey and Roose Bolton – you just had to be perfect didn’t ya. It is all your fault they died. Idiot.

38] GREGOR CLEGANE (HAFBÓR JÚLÍUS “THOR” BJÖRNSSON)

He is good but he is brainless – just muscle. The death was good though, the one where he smashes that guys head in.

37] STANNIS BARATHEON (STEPHEN DILLANE)

Conflicted, but did have a heart. I often switched between liking him and hating him but he (at times) did have a heart.

36] KHAL DROGO (JASON MOMOA)

Hardly in it

35] ROBERT BARATHEON (MARK ADDY)

You just had to die – huh ?

34] HOT PIE (BEN HAWKEY)

Bring back Hot Pie!

33] MYRCELLA BARATHEON (NELL TIGER FREE)

Actually liked her from that one scene I can really remember her from.

32] GILLY (HANNAH MURRAY)

I wanted to put her higher. But, this list is really hard.

31] MELISANDRE (CARICE VAN HOUTEN)

I hate her. Put she did bring Jon Snow to life and she is a good baddie. I mean, she did freak me out a bit. You know I could have picked a different picture.

3O] TOMMEN BARATHEON (DEAN-CHARLES CHAPMAN)

He makes it into the top 30 because he had a fantastic death, and I liked the way he didn’t let Margary or Cerci win, he choose his own fate.

29] TYWIN LANNISTER (CHARLES DANCE)

I like him and Arya, and he wasn’t bad but he was evil to Tyrion.

28] YARA GREYJOY (GEMMA WHELAN)

I like her but I havent really actually seen her, so she is in at 28

27] ROBB STARK (RICHARD MADDEN)

IDIOT – if I have to explain you are an idiot as well.

26] YGRITTE (ROSE LESLIE)

‘You know nothing Jon Snow’. I really liked Ygritte but she isn’t it anymore so I didn’t think it was fair to put her high.

25] MISSANDEI (NATHALIE EMMANUEL)

Once again I don’t know if I put her to high but too me I put her too low. I really like her.

24] OLENNA TYRELL (DIANA RIGG)

She killed Joffrey, that is why she has to be high and she is kind of the OG. She swore to avenge her grandchildren, so I am really looking forward to see her

23] RAMSAY BOLTON (IWAN RHEON).

You loved to hate him. The whole Reek business was crazy. And Iwan is a great actor, but what he did in recent seasons (Sansa) turned him from someone I loved to hate, to someone I just despised. And he killed poor Rickon( even though he is an idiot) for no reason. Battle of the Bastards was cool though. And plus, his death was just so raw. I dont know whether I am trying to protect my reasoning for putting him so high or so low.

22] JORAH MORMONT (IAIN GLEN).

I like him, but I dont like that he is in love with Daenerys. The reason I haven’t put him much higher is because he is kind of a love struck puppy in recent seasons which I don’t like. But – watch when he cures his greyscale and saves the day. Big up Jorah.
I like to defend people – most people don’t like him but I wanted to put him higher but just couldn’t find the space

21] JOFFREY BARATHEON (JACK GLEESON)

I really hated him as well. But he was someone we loved to hate. And you would be lying if the smallest, tinest bit of you doesn’t miss him. He is higher than Ramsay because he is the OG, and he was never as bad as Joffrey

20] MARGAERY TYRELL (NATALIE DORMER)

I liked her, nah I actually loved her. She was a hustler getting her hands on the throne, but her demise was kind of disappointing because we didn’t actually get to see her and it won’t have a lasting impact on the show. Furthermore. when she went with Tommen. I just think the show will forget how much the people loved her and just not mention her again for Season 8 but she was one of my favourite. If I was a selfish guy I would put her at number one. (I am 100% a selfish guy and I have put my favourite character first, I didn’t want to go overboard and have her at number 2)

19] TORMUND GIANTSBANE (KRISTOFER HIVJU)

I mean c’mon – who doesn’t love this guy?

18] BRONN (JEROME FLYNN)

Absolutely love Bronn. My sorta guy, Tyrion has gone, but he is still with Jaime. He has the best bromance since…

17] THEON GREYJOY (ALFIE ALLEN)

Poor guy – it isn’t your fault Theon. It is all your dumb dad’s fault. We loved you until you did do what you did. But we like you again thanks to what you went through, saving Sansa. And actually caring when you heard Robb died. I’m counting him as a Stark – and he is an idiot for what he did killing then two farm boys then invading Winterfell turning his back on his family – the Stark family. Idiot.

16] SAMWELL TARLY (JOHN BRADLEY-WEST)

Maybe he is the end game – that is why he is so important but it is so hard to try and fit him any higher.

15] DAVOS SEAWORTH (LIAM CUNNINGHAM)

Great adviser, doesn’t like Melisandre, and we are all with him. He sounds like the guy you go to for help – his voice over in that trailer was just perfect. The Onion Knight is us (the audience) in the situation – loyal to a fault but still not blinded by Stannis. Now aiding Jon Snow, he has found a place in my heart.

14] SANSA STARK (SOPHIE TURNER)

We love Sansa now but we did all used to hate her so we that has to be taken into account. She is lower because we have yet to see her he a serious contender to take the throne. I know they said that she has been promised to become a badass but can she do that without reverting back to the version we didn’t like of her. And lets not forget she wanted that prick Joffrey. Idiot.

13] EDDARD ‘NED’ STARK (SEAN BEAN)

Ah – the main man. Ned Stark, what needs to be said. He literally made the show, his death gave fans (and non-fans) a reason to watch. Of course, in the books Ned always died and so Ned dying isn’t a big deal, but what was a big deal was casting the huge Sean Bean in the title role and then killing him nine episodes in. Ned should never have got involved, damn – I hate Joffrey. Idiot.

12] CERSEI LANNISTER (LENA HEADEY)

I mean to me I didn’t really like the whole sparrow rubbish, so apart from when she killed them all the last couple of seasons have been bad. ,i.e I didn’t Like her walk of shame, did not really care.

11] CATELYN STARK (MICHELLE FAIRLEY).

It is hard, because she has hardly been in it. But she was amazing. But she hasn’t been in it for such a long time – that is why she just misses top 10. If she was to return however, then it would be amazing…………. Her death was great though, the way she killed the daughter and realised what was going on but then she did let her son backtrack on his promise and she also thought that the most noble person in the North – Ned Stark, could possibly cheat on her. Idiot

10] VARYS (CONLETH HILL)

He will forever be known for not having a….. ny hair. But – Varys is amazing, he had Westeros’ best intentions at heart, he steals many scenes that he is in.

9] SANDOR “THE HOUND” CLEGANE (RORY MCCANN)

His season with Arya is a highlight of mine. When we all thought he was dead, it was a sad time for me. And I was so happy when I saw him appear again outta nowhere. The Hound forever, plus he is an absolute badass

8] BRIENNE OF TARTH (GWENDOLINE CHRISTIE)

That fight! That fight was just fantastic, she has to be higher because she is just amazing. All of her stories and arcs are genuinely entertaining – her esquire, her fights, her loyalty, her relationships. And she has so many links to so many characters, that if you were to hate her bond with one she is connected to another some how. Her and Jamie, her and Arya, her and the Hound, her and Catelyn, her and Sansa, her and Tommund.

7] JAIME LANNISTER (NIKOLAJ COSTER-WALDAU)

A baddie that has redeemed himself – someone that I actually find myself liking even though he is doing the biggest crime in this show. I think the thing that has turned him around, is when we got to see his human side – conflicting him – it gave him development and showed a layered character. This was when he was travelling with. Brienne of Tarth, and we got to understand his title and his views. I mean him losing his hand was just fantastic, I was not expecting it at all and his relationship with Tyrion was one we all hoped their father would adopt.

6] HODOR (KRISTIAN NAIRN)

I loved him even though when it came to the Game of Thrones, was he ever in it? But that being said the only reason I gave a little crap about Bran was for Hodor. And that death still gets me. Just hold the door, just hold the door… 😢.

5] DAENERYS TARGARYEN (EMILIA CLARKE)

Daenerys is number one on most of the lists I have seen, but I cannot put her higher than fifth just she has taken to long to come to Westeros. For goodness sake – I mean she has an army, dragons, a lover, advisers and a guy she put in the friend zone – just go and take the throne.

4] ARYA STARK (MAISIE WILLIAMS)

The best Stark, she is a killer, she is ruthless and she is just a bad ass. I mean, c’mon – some of the best story lines have had Arya attached. Let’s just forget that season where she learns she ain’t gotta a name and drops down a lot of steps and still lives and loses her sight. But – hey, at least she killed that bitch – The Waif.

3] TYRION LANNISTER (PETER DINKLAGE)

Tyrion is everyone’s favourite Lannister. It was really difficult to decide between Tyrion and Jon – but I put Tyrion at third because recently we haven’t seen him do much. But – in earlier seasons he no doubt stole the show – that speech.

2] JON SNOW (KIT HARINGTON).

HAS TO BE NUMBER 2, just think about the reaction when he dies. He was just too good in Season 6. It is funny, because in my opinion, he was actually rubbish – all he did was just mope on the wall, chasing after Ygritte. All it took was that prick Olly to stab him and then boom.

1] LORD PETYR BARLISH (AIDAN GILLEN)

If you read my stuff, you know I always like to argue my point. But just bare with me because I actually believe Littlefinger is the best character. He is shady, he is getting things done. When it comes to the Game of Thrones – he works in the shadow and trust me when I say he will get the throne.

*** UPDATE – just watched the season 7 finale and I should definitely not be trusted. But to say I am upset, is a massive understatement, I see a lot of people are happy that he is dead but can we just take a minute for my man LittleFinger. I honestly thought you would win.***
